Instagram: use, grow, enjoy!

Hello there, I know it has been a while since I’ve written a blogpost. I focused more on instagram and kicked off a brand new account, with a dark preset. It’s still one of the most important app for many bloggers, whatever niche you are. And at the same time the most frustrating.

If you are using instagram for professinal purposes you must have noticed that it’s difficult these days to grow or to even get likes on pictures. All due to the algoritm that keeps on changing. Influencers with thousands of followers can’t reach their public anymore. I have +13k followers and while my pictures used to hit a thousand likes, now it’s already difficult to reach even half of it. Is there a way to beat the algoritm? To be honest… I don’t think so. Before you figure out their strategy, it has already changed.

So how do I use, grow and enjoy instagram these days?

This is still the best way to grow. Keep your followers interested. I try to post daily, if possible even twice a day. Once in the morning, once in the early afternoon. I tracked my followers (possible w/ a creator account) The mornings are for my usa based followers ; the afternoon for my european and australian based followers. This way I’m connected with both, every day. This being said, I only post pictures that are qualitative, I prefer not posting at all instead posting whatever just “to post something.” Instagram is the first thing companies see from you, it better be good!

YES, please do! This absolutely works! This is the way to get your posts seen by a thousand people and/or to end up at the popular page. Very important don’t copy paste your hashtags into your next posts. (It won’t give you the same results) Switch them up, add new tags,… You can easily keep up with the best tags via instagram or use an app to see which ones are trending now. You can choose to post them under your posts or in the comments. Both works.

This is one of the easiest way to gain new followers. I team up with a group of fashion/beauty/lifestyle bloggers, let’s say two or three times a month. You can also collaborate with a brand to promote them this way. Don’t be afraid to approach them, even when your following isn’t huge. Companies love working with micro bloggers (less than 30-50k) too these days.

Connection is key. That’s the only way to have a genuine following. Comment, like, ask their opinion,… Your followers want to be part the whole story, don’t forget this. Take them backstage with you if you’re at an event, do Q&A in your stories,… Make them part of your story and your world.

Ah, here we are, the pods: likes for likes, comments for comments or the combination of both. This might look as the solution to reach more people, in reality it isn’t. It has never been proven to be the ideal way to gain followers. Also, instagram doesn’t support them, and I’ve heard some people even got blocked for using them. And I understand why, it isn’t “real.” Most of them will engage with your content because they have to, not because they’re interested. And isn’t this what it’s all about? Genuine followers who are really into you.

Building a huge following is hard these days. But by doing all these things, I came to +13k. Let me tell you, a huge following isn’t something that happens overnight, it’s hard work. It’s browsing instagram, commenting, liking,… And this daily. But it feels good every time a new goal has been reached.

Good luck! X, Eva

Growing on instagram is soooo HARD.
The worst part is that brands rejected me because I don’t have enough followers.

Ot’s indeed hard work. And you need time for this. Not easy when being full time employed….

At a certain point, it seems like the Instagram level has reached a maximum followers. To get above that seems difficult…

Luckily, it is now known that being in a pod isnt as bad as being told. It wont gain followers in the long haul, but you wont get blocked or anything.

Wil, ik heb instagram, maar ik vind er persoonlijk weinig aan.

Ik ben er ook niet zo mee bezig om eerlijk te zijn…
Ik denk overigens dat mijn doelgroep zich niet zo op instagram begeeft…

I love Instagram and on busy days I don’t, because it costs quite a bit time to manage it all!
